Tell me again when it is that I hate you?

IF DISAGREEING with someone is always the same as hating them, then no profession, no office, no home, friendship or marriage can survive the fallout.

If you refuse to like me — all I do and stand for, must I insist that you therefore hate me–that you are anti-me!?

If so, it becomes clear where the problem lies. It is within me, and my boisterous accusations of you do not alter reality or repair our relationship. It is my own insecurity that is compromising our potential for possessing and expressing opposing views.

The extent to which I MUST have your approval of me is equal and opposite to the “crash and burn” I have when you reject me and or my beliefs/views.

It becomes very easy to spot the mature adult in the room if a child engages temper tantrums, anger and even violence. Children often resort to, “I hate you” when they can’t get their way and it appears that the adult is not backing down on the matter. Claiming the parent hates them is the last ditch, desperate effort at changing the adults mind.

Solution: Work at not caring “too much” about what others think or say. Laws and restrictions are powerless against people who prejudice, bully and hate. There will always be accusers and tongue waggers. There will always be those who insist that their chosen lifestyle (LGBTQ) (SSM) MUST  become universally accepted and promoted as normalcy by EVERYONE, or else–or else you hate me/us! It is the child in rebellion.

These are spiritual issues within the human heart that must be reconciled by spiritual means.

“Where do wars and fights come from among you?

Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?

You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain.

You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss,

that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Lament and mourn and weep!

Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

–James 4:1-3, 7-10

It might be that If you were a member of one these groups and denied equal rights for no demonstrably sound reason, that might feel like you were being hated upon. And your response might be equal and opposite. I understand the resistance to calling these minority life styles “normal.” That’s not useful based on the idea that normal is the “most common.” But I’m OK with it meaing normal for them. I think they should be universally accepted unless their lifestyle is demonstrated to harm others. Seems like that’s where the discussion would start, IMHO. Peace out.
