Would you say that being “Proud to be an American” is a good pride?
Are you proud of a sports team or that shine you just put on your car?
June is somehow become a month dedicated to the pride of Sexual Activity and an “Identity” centered on sex.
If you watch or attend a parade intent on celebrating the many forms of sexuality, here is what you will often see: Dancing, flitting about like happy bumblebees, nudity, affections, smiles, acting, pretending, hoping, wishing and sadness couched in laughter.
“No one else can really know
how sad or happy you are.” Proverbs 14:10
A clown who performed all day and sought to make others happy can go home in deep sorrow. While the colors are flying and the feet are cavorting, be assured of this:
WHEN THE PARADE IS OVER AND THE SEXUAL IDENTITIES ARE SUFFICIENTLY CONFIRMED AND AFFIRMED,
the LGBTQI community of people will go home still fighting a conscience that tells them how wrong and how sorrowful they still are. Where is the compassion for this hurt that has been denied, yet remains as hellishly vicious as ever? Who will help these people escape the chains of sexual slavery and debauchery?
“I knew that the Supreme Court said this was legal.
Why then does it still hurt? Why am I still in agony?
Denial is a brutal taskmaster that requires constant supervision and loud antics. False Bravado defines the soul who will insist on suppressing their guilt and burden of shame.
This sad person must act out in childish abandon. He / she must recruit those who will feel sorry for them, wave support flags and offer benign words of comfort. These would-be-supporters merely stroke their own egos and seek to salve their own conscience with pseudo reinforcement that is spelled, “See—I am not homophobic or bigoted!”
Further, any and all people who fail to affirm individuals who have adopted a lifestyle of homosexual behavior (homosexual is an adverb–not a noun) must be labeled as homophobic, bigoted and hateful. Admittedly, many people are these things, but most are not and never intend to be thus.
In the end, the LGBTQI goes home to a world that is filled with darkness.
Depression and suicide wait to contradict the fleeting joy of colors and flags of affirmation.
“Males in the United States are more likely to take their own life at nearly four times the rate of females and represent 79% of all U.S. suicides. Suicide is the seventh leading cause of death for males in the United States. Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men are at even greater risk for suicide attempts, especially before the age of 25. A study of youth in grades 7-12 found that lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth were more than twice as likely to have attempted suicide as their heterosexual peers.” Source: CDC
THERE IS HOPE
HUMILITY DAY is when I conform to yet another standard for living—yet another lifestyle. I receive a new identity that I never have to fight for or prop up. Humility is indeed the high-water mark of human identity.
Pride is the mother of the vices.
Humility is something I cannot take pride in.
Pride is the revelation and presentation of narcissism.
Humility is letting go of my need to be needed by another human.
Pride is I.
Humility is Not I.
Pride is an arrogant fool.
Humility is a gracious guest.
A NEW IDENTITY AWAITS ALL WHO WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES
Someone offers hope that is real and transformational. There is a place of rest and peace.
There is help that is genuine, not surface.
All that happened to make you and me go off course is not bigger than the solution afforded to us.
Every generation and culture have known what it means to be abused sexually, emotionally and physically. The scars and entanglements are deep and complicated. It does no good to cover them up or treat them as illegal/lawful. Nor does it bring remedy when I shout them to the world as my new bogus identity of LGBTQI.
LGBTQI is not an identity (noun)—it is a lifestyle (adverb) that evolved from pain and suffering. It only offers more of the same.
LGBTQI is an activity. The deeper one goes, the harder one must swim upstream. This is why there is such dismay and gloom.
For anyone wanting help and escape from certain destruction, (mental, physical, spiritual) there is a way out.
Will you humble yourself and stop listening to those who either condemn you or especially those who affirm your chosen lifestyle?
Destructive Pride has a mortal enemy—a powerful adversary who lives to give you freedom and peace. This enemy is HUMILITY.
The way to humility is through an inner change–a change of heart and purpose. This way is indeed a new identity. One very special person embodies this Humility and he seeks to impart it to you and me.
True Humility – Jesus Christ
“Christ encourages you, and his love comforts you. God’s Spirit unites you, and you are concerned for others. 2 Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person. 3 Don’t be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves 5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:
6 Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain equal with God.
7 Instead he gave up everything and became a slave, when he became like one of us.
8 Christ was humble. He obeyed God and even died on a cross.
9 Then God gave Christ the highest place and honored his name above all others.
10 So at the name of Jesuseveryone will bow down, those in heaven, on earth,
and under the earth.
11 And to the gloryof God the Father everyone will openly agree,“Jesus Christ is Lord!”
FOR CHRISTIANS ONLY
There is no such thing as a “Gay Christian” any more than a “Straight” one. A person is either a Christ-follower (Christian) or not. All Christians, even those struggling with sexual yearnings and desires that are contrary to being “Christian”, will be infused with HUMILITY–NEVER PRIDE.
Humility helps me to confess, turn around, change course, find resolve to be obedient in the face of cultural rejection.
Peter had this to say about the dynamics of pride and humility. (I Peter 1:5-7)
5 All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say,
“God opposes proud people,
but he helps everyone who is humble.”
6 Be humble in the presence of God’s mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes. 7 God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.”
VICTORY IS WHEN YOUR NEW IDENTITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SEX OR GENDER
